From Every Tribe, Tongue, and Nation

After this, I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!"
Revelation 7:9-10

As you read this, Isaac and I will be on our way back from Tbilisi, Georgia. Our trip was nothing short of amazing. Our purpose for this trip was to lead a retreat weekend for 25 missionary high school kids. Each of these kids have parents who serve on the mission field, either planting churches in Georgia and surrounding countries, or supporting the indigenous people who are leading Gospel work. Most of these kids were American, but we had some from Australia, Korea, and even South America.

On Sunday afternoon, we worshiped at the international church that had music led by a trio from India, a British man read scripture, an American man preached the Word, we sat with some people from Asia, and announcements were given by a Georgian. On our trip, we met people from all over the world. We experienced some culture that we had not before and it often stretched our comfort. But the most encouraging aspect of our trip was that we were blatantly reminded that God is building His Kingdom and saving people from every tribe, tongue, and nation for His glory.

It is very easy to “Americanize” Christianity and apply unrealistic expectations or assumptions to faith in Jesus and what it should look like. But the truth is, Jesus is saving from every tribe and tongue and nation and He invites us to be instruments in His hands to accomplish this.

It has been a joy to see and hear how the Berrys (Damon, Anna, Braylyn, Camden, and Ezra), along with so many, are laboring among the nations to make Jesus non-ignorable to the ends of the earth in often hard places. When you read this, pause and pray for them and pray for the lost and unreached. Also, pray that God may use you to share the joy of faith in the Gospel that leads to salvation. He is at work and He generously invites us to join for His glory and the good of others.
