Jesson Salyards

Jesson grew up in Colorado in a small farming community where he learned the values of family, hard work, and responsibility. He took his passion for fixing stuff on the farm and pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jesson has spent most of his career working primarily in engine development. Jesson married Nicole in 2010 and they have been blessed with two wonderful children (Lydia & Joel). In 2018, Jesson and his family moved to Severance and were immediately blessed by finding Calvary Severance. Through God’s grace and work through those around him, Jesson was pushed outside of his comfort zone and has found a rewarding call to help lead and shepherd Calvary Severance. Jesson is passionate about connecting people authentically to build up Christ’s church and spread His name to the ends of the earth. In his free time, Jesson loves spending time with his family, going camping, and working on his collector cars.

Bret Toman

Bret was born in Colorado but raised in North Dakota. After graduating from the University of North Dakota, he says, "I put my economics degree to use for three years doing youth ministry in small town Minnesota. After three years at Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., and some more years of youth ministry, I now use my ministry degree to run an online retail operation out of a cave in my basement." Married to Tina in 2000, they now have five children. In 2007 they had a sense of call to Colorado/Windsor and have been here ever since. He had a moral upbringing, but the spark really fanned into flame while he was a teenager. "The good news that Jesus took the punishment for my sins became more of a reality and reason for worship. I began to engage God in prayer and Bible study regularly if not daily, and it made an obvious impact on my life. I’ve been growing up ever since, but God’s Word and God’s people remain central to the process."

Tim Knutson

Tim and his family moved to Windsor in August of 2008 after being part of a church plant in Canton, South Dakota, and serving on the leadership team. He is a follower of Jesus Christ and is passionate about connecting people to God and connecting with people through everyday life. Tim grew up in a Christian home in a small town in southeastern South Dakota and attended Dalesburg Baptist Church where his parents still attend and serve. Tim graduated from Colorado State University with a Degree in Computer Information Systems, via University of South Dakota and Moody Bible Institute, and he currently works as a Senior Control Systems Developer. He and his wife Kylie have been married for more than 20 years. They have two sons and a daughter: Emmit, Titus, & Sydney. Tim enjoys golfing, camping, skiing, and spending time with his family and friends. A favorite getaway is spending time up in the mountains.

Steven Pettypool

Having grown up in rural Arkansas, Steven grew to love small town life and the great outdoors. A loving Christian home taught him the value of his faith in Jesus Christ and the importance of family. His sense for adventure and travel came from his years as a United States Airman. Steven married his loving wife in 2001 and moved to Tyler, TX. Monica and Steven now became the parents of five children. He and his family then lived in Jackson, TN while Steven attended graduate school. In 2009, he became a nurse anesthetist and returned to TX. Steven and Monica fell in love with the state of Colorado and the people there and felt called to be there. In 2017, they met some fellow East Texans that were planting a church in Severance and felt called to be a part of it. God moved a lot of obstacles, opened many doors, and answered countless prayers to get the Pettypools to CO. They have a passion for serving the community of Severance and spreading the gospel throughout Northern Colorado.

Mark Becker

Worship & Communications Director

Mark and his wife, Shelby, moved to Northern Colorado the week before Calvary Severance launched in January of 2019 and have been with the church ever since. Born in New Jersey, Mark spent most of his early life in East Texas and felt the call to ministry during his junior year of college at the University of Texas in Tyler. He met his wife at a local college ministry where they had the opportunity to lead worship together until graduating; they got married shortly after in June of 2018. Mark has a passion for seeing and hearing Jesus glorified through music, encouraging the church to worship in Spirit & Truth, and living out Colossians 3:16. He also loves Star Wars, cutting-edge tech, and coffee shops!

Isaac Toman

Student Director

Isaac was born in Brainerd, Minnesota but spent most of his childhood in Windsor. After graduating Highschool, Isaac served as a summer intern at Calvary Severance where he first witnessed a potential call to ministry. Isaac graduated from UNC in 2022 with a Bachelors in History and is currently attending William Tennent School of Theology. He is eager for the youth at Calvary Severance to recognize their God-given gifts and use them for His glory in order to make Jesus non-ignorable in Severance and beyond! Isaac enjoys reading books on history and theology, as well as playing guitar, enjoying a good cup of coffee, and being in the mountains when he can!

Shelby Becker

Girls Ministry Director

Shelby is not sure where to call home as she has lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Texas again, and now Colorado! She grew up around music and ministry her whole life and began leading worship in high school all the way through college. She met Mark half way through college (ask her about this fun story sometime!) and as they began leading worship and small groups together, they figured out they fit pretty well together. :) She and Mark got married after graduating college and were hungry for ministry and a fresh start together. They moved to Colorado a week before Calvary Severance launched and have loved it ever since. She now works from home full-time for a ministry called Forum of Christian Leaders who work with Europeans to give resources, trainings, and a yearly forum in Poland. Shelby loves baking new recipes, meeting with girls from church, talking about her cats, and making clay earrings!

Tina Toman

Kids Ministry Director

Tina is a native of Ohio and it was there that God first called her into ministry. After college, she worked as a full-time Children's Ministry Director in Minnesota until she met her now husband, Bret (that's a fun story of God's provision for another time). She's continued in this role part-time off and on over twenty-eight years. Bret and Tina have five children: one grown-and-flown, one in college, two at Windsor Charter Academy Early College High School, and one she homeschools. Tina is passionate about Children’s Ministry because of how God worked in her life when she was young. She's excited to come alongside parents as they disciple their children in a relationship with Him.

Nicole Salyards

Administrative Coordinator

Nicole is married to her long time (since high school!) best friend Jesson and they have two fun and energetic kids, Lydia and Joel. Nicole is a Colorado native, has enjoyed calling Severance home since 2018, and has been attending Calvary Severance since it’s launch in 2019! God’s hand was undoubtedly at work in bringing her family together with this church. Ask her about it sometime.
Nicole serves as administrative coordinator to the Calvary Severance leadership team as well as assisting with other ministries within the church. She leads and teaches in the 4 year - old to preschool classroom within Calvary Kids and truly enjoys sharing with the littles about Jesus.
Nicole loves trying new foods and recipes, camping with her family, gardening, and conversations that happen around a campfire.
