Homecoming
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:20
This past week was homecoming at the school where I teach. The week was filled with school spirit, tons of laughter, and above all, a sense of community. High School is sometimes a brutal place, but as I was sitting at the pep assembly amongst 600 students cheering, there was a unique sense of unity.
Unity is a huge aspect of the church body, as we are all a part of the one body of Christ, and if we are not working together we quickly fall apart. Unity is what we are called to, I mean when I hear the word community I think “come together as one”. And in the world we live in, it seems like everyone and everything is trying to pull us further apart.
We at Calvary Severance are part of a community that loves one another, welcomes one another, and worships God with one another. And it reminds me of the final homecoming when Christ returns!
Our citizenship is not of this world, but Christ has prepared a place for us in glory for those whom he has drawn near to him! Christ will reunite all believers, from the ancient past to the distant future, as one in glory! Now that is a homecoming we can all look forward to!
So as you go throughout the week I want you to think about the celebration and joy we will have when we see Jesus face-to-face when he finally calls us home.
