Seeing God Work
One of the prayers that has developed as my kids have aged is, “God, please let them see You at work… let them see some fruit from their labor.” The reason I pray this is for their encouragement and for His glory. And I praise God that He has been gracious to allow them to see some results of their impact through overseas missions trips, Spring Break missions, college ministry leadership, church planting team, and at their jobs. I was recently convicted, though, that I haven’t been praying that prayer for myself.
But before even asking Him, God, in His kindness and generosity, recently allowed me to see Him at work as He unveiled eyes and called four people to Himself! Four people in one week’s time acknowledged their sin, their need for a Savior, and surrendered to the lordship of Jesus! That’s a huge deal! Only God can do that! And I didn’t ask Him to show me, but He did. He knows what an encouragement and celebration it is to see such fruit! He is at work!
And then I was reminded by my husband to look and see how God is also at work in steady smaller ways: faithful believers with Bibles in hand attending Life Group, Bible studies, and church; unchurched people showing up at our worship service; kids at camp who were most excited about the worship times; unity within our church leadership who have weighty decisions to make; people experiencing the joy of serving and giving. God is at work in so many ways! And He is gracious to allow us a front row seat to see what He is doing… praise God!
Consider asking Him to show you how He is at work around you… and rejoice with Him at what HE is doing!
