Waiting is a Blessing
It is that time of year when everything seems to be going on at the same time. Family gatherings, graduations, weddings, VBS…and that’s just to name a few. It is easy to get carried away with what is coming next and forget the opportunities that you have right now.
Matthew 6:34 “Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
This verse has really stuck out to me recently, as a lot of major transitions are approaching the Rodriguez household. I often find myself thinking about tomorrow, next week, this fall, next year, it can be quite overwhelming and stressful, yet every time I take a step back and ask “God, what are you doing right now,” I am reminded of His faithfulness and provision.
In our life group, we have been talking about the blessing of waiting. It is a gift to us to wait on the Lord, watch Him work, and trust His work. Too often, I fear we try to “force” God to do our will, yet our prayer should be “Lord, not my will but yours be done.”
As I step away from teaching and into full-time church planting, I have great comfort in knowing that this is God’s call on my life, and the call on our family, yet at the same time, there is a reality of unknowing. This unknowing leads me to want to take matters into my own hands, but I need reminding that the Lord will work things out for those called according to His purpose.
We, as a church, are in a period of waiting with the building, and I ask that you join me in prayer as we seek wisdom for what the next steps look like. We do not know what tomorrow brings, but we know that it is in God's hands. Let us trust God with our tomorrow just as much as we trust him with our today.
