For His Glory
Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases.
…we will bless the Lord from this time forth and forevermore. Praise the Lord!
Psalm 115:3,18
As Gracie and I get ready to move to Eaton next week, we have been doing a lot of reflection on God’s provision in this season, and it was clear to see all God’s work taking form in front of our eyes! This reminded me of Romans 8:28: “God works all things together for good who love him." And this is so true! He works all things together for His glory and our good, but as I thought about this a little more, He does all things for His glory and for His glory.
This was such a relieving thought! Our God is an all-powerful God who does things as He pleases. What comfort this brings! He draws us near to Him not only because it is good for us, but because it brings Him glory. As followers of Christ, when we draw near to God and worship Him in our day-to-day lives, we bring glory to God.
Does that mean that what we do doesn’t matter at all? Of course not. What we do matters, and what we are called to do matters. We are called to share the gospel, grow with one another in Christ through discipleship, and live our lives as a living sacrifice to God, not because it brings us glory, but because it brings God glory.
So my encouragement for you this week is to take time to see how God’s glory is magnified in your day-to-day actions. How do you see God at work in your life? Rejoice in the comfort that we serve an all-powerful God and rest in his glory from this day forth and forevermore.
