God is in Control of Our Refinement
Life often brings changes and challenges that can feel overwhelming or even threatening. But in every situation, we have a choice: will we view it as a threat, or can we see it as an opportunity? What if even the hardest moments are invitations to grow, trust, and deepen our faith?
Recently, I faced significant challenges in my work life. The threat of losing a job forced me to pause and reflect on where I was placing my trust—was it in my own control or in God’s provision? What felt like a threat became an opportunity to realign my priorities and trust Him more fully.
Additionally, I was responsible for leading a team also facing this uncertainty. The instinct is to focus on ourselves in uncertainty, but it became an opportunity to lead with love, faith, and grace, demonstrating to others that our security isn’t found in a job but in God’s unchanging promises.
You’ve probably faced similar situations. Maybe rejection, failure, or change has left you feeling anxious or defeated. But even these moments can carry hidden opportunities. A missed promotion could push you to develop new skills or explore a different path. A broken relationship could lead to healing and personal growth. Health struggles, though difficult, might deepen your reliance on God and allow you to be a source of hope for others.
So, how can you shift your perspective? What threats in your life could actually be opportunities? Opportunities to grow in faith, to demonstrate the love of Jesus, or to trust in God’s refining process. Malachi 3:3 reminds us that God is like a refiner of silver, purifying us through life’s challenges so that we may bring offerings of righteousness. Take heart in knowing that God is in control of our refinement 3He (God) will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the Lord.
