Measuring Milestones Not Monuments

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” - ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬-‭34‬

There’s a famous saying that the only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time. Well, the last few weeks (and even months) have felt a lot like trying to eat an elephant. As many of you know by now, Lila-Rae joined us 4 weeks early and has been in the NICU for the past two and a half weeks. She has been making great steps every day, but the one question everyone asks is, “When is she coming home?” And while this is a great question, even one that we have been asking since the day she was born, it is easy to focus on the monument of her being at home and miss all the milestones along the way.

As summer is coming to a close and kids are going back to school, it’s easy to think about what is next. Calvary 85 this summer hosted its first VBS! We have also been hard at work making connections in the community and are even hosting a worship night this Saturday night at Liberty Park in Ault. And while the question I am often asked is where and when are you going to start Sunday services, and even though we haven’t quite figured that one out yet,  it has been a joy to rest in all of these milestones happening here along the 85 corridor.

A similar situation is going on right now with Calvary Severance as we get ready to renovate and move into our building! This is something to be excited about, but let’s not miss the milestones on the way! I encourage you to join us for prayer tonight at the building as we have our monthly prayer gathering!

So my encouragement to you today is to pray for the monuments, pray that they come to pass in God’s timing, but also pray and rejoice in the milestones on the way! God is at work, and we get to join him for the ride!
