Walk With Jesus
This past Sunday, Pastor Josh unpacked John 1, where Jesus called his first disciples. Jesus' invitations into a life-changing relationship with Himself were simple: "Come and see" (v. 39) and "Follow me" (v. 43). He invited people to spend time with Him, to observe how He spoke and lived, and to become more like Him through experiences with Him. And, though it may look different today, the simple invitation to Christian discipleship is still the call to, "Come and see," "Follow me," and Walk with Jesus.
We may not have the physical presence of Christ on earth, but, according to Jesus, we have all that we need--the presence of the Holy Spirit (John 16:7), the perfect revelation of Scripture (Luke 24:27), and the promise that our prayers are heard (1 John 5:14). By the power of the Spirit, we can Walk with Jesus. We can hear from Him in His word, and we can speak to Him in prayer. We can know Him and be known by Him by faith.
Practically speaking, what does this look like? How do we develop a rich and meaningful personal devotional life? How do we battle the flesh so as to engage with God's word and prayer in interesting, exciting, and meaningful ways? We will seek to answer that question in our new, 6-week Bible study, "Walk with Jesus," each Tuesday, beginning January 20th, 6:30-8 AM or 6:30-8 PM, at The Building (35938 County Rd 25, Eaton, CO). I hope to see you there!
